Venom (2018)

When Eddie Brock acquires the powers of a symbiote, he will have to release his alter-ego "Venom" to save his life (Source- Imdb.com)

Trailer- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9Mv98Gr5pY

Rating- PG-13
Genre- thriller/science fiction
Warnings- disturbing imagery/swearing

I'm not Marvel fanatic as much as the next guy, but I've always been fascinated by Venom.

This dark version of Spider man enthralled me when I was first introduced to him in 'Spider Man 3' (2007), at least, that's what I used to think it was: just a darker version of Spider man. This creature is so much more than that, as it says in its origin story that Venom is actually a sentient alien symbiote that has a liquid-like form and needs a host in order to survive on Earth.

According to Venom's wikipedia, its first appearance was made when it used Spider man as its host in The Amazing Spider-Man #258 in 1984. It later went on to merge with other hosts, the most notable being journalist Eddie Brock, who is the star of this latest adaptation. I'm going to focus not so much on the original Venom and Brock, and just critic the movie on its own.

Say this is a clean slate, that this is the first ever anyone has ever heard of Venom, how does it hold up? Was this movie something I could really get attached to, or was it better to split and find a better movie that night?

This film centers on Brock, who is still a hard hitting journalist in this version, as he sets out to investigate a scandal involving a powerful CEO named Carlton Drake that lands him into hot water by becoming the host of a symbiote known as Venom. Turns out the pair have a genuine connection to one another, and as the story progresses you see how this human and symbiote can work together to play by their own rules.

The first thing I want to point out is how fast this film felt to me. It's said to be 2 hours and 20 minutes long, but it felt more like an hour, and I find that to be due to two factors. One being that I enjoyed it a ton, it was an interesting story from start to finish. Albiet, the beginning was a little dragging, but once Venom gets into the picture it's so much fun and you may find yourself laughing a lot. I didn't expect to laugh because hey, an alien possessing your body doesn't sound like a laugh riot to me, but the dialogue between Brock and Venom is very quick and sassy. It's as if you're watching two friends bicker, it's hilarious to listen in on it.

The second reason for why I think the movie went so quick is because the plot points went by too fast. The more I think about it, things just seemed to happy abruptly with no real rhyme or reason. I think the beginning and middle part was good as far as taking its time to build things up, but the last 20 minutes or so, the characters' personalities just seemed to shift slightly.

One example I'll use is Venom, he's an alien with the purpose to use humans for his own selfish desires. When he forms an emotional bond with Brock, I can't really tell where that comes from. Don't think I assumed this happened either, there are a couple of scenes that clearly state that Brock and Venom felt like they got closer over time and are sincerely disheartened by not having the other in their life.

To argue against my own opinion, it could be because in order to survive a human and a symboite must be compatible with one another and when you have someone inside you 24/7, you're bound to gain some attachment to them.

Speaking of attachment, I found it hard as a viewer to feel sympathy for Brock despite him being the main character. The way that he goes about things, particularly in the beginning of the movie, isn't so admirable. In fact, they're very impulsive without any regard for other people's feelings. Yet Tony Stark was the same way. So was Dr. Stephen Strange, and I ended up liking both of them in the end. I suppose that it makes the story more exciting if the main character isn't the model of perfect behavior. Maybe with time, I'll warm up to Brock's character.

I think the conflict was done well. It may be a little predictable, but I'll let it slide because it makes sense to Brock's character to want to research into a big scandal. The way the side and minor characters are incorporated into the story is well done too. There were some moments where I was shocked that the movie would go down that route, but that's a good thing because they weren't afraid to diverge into dark material.

I noticed how the relationship between Brock and side character Anne Weying (Michelle Williams) was really reaching for a romantic storyline. When you watch the movie, you may think it's no problem, but I just was sick of it being pushed onto me.

It kind of sends a toxic message to people about how you could keep pushing something to happen and eventually your romantic interest will come around to you. To argue against that, if we're being realistic, a lot of people do this and not everyone knows how to properly pursue a romantic interest. So, I'm hoping that the sequel will address this and that this sort of behavior isn't healthy.

I'm not sure how to feel about the main villain of the story. On one hand, I liked the fact that he didn't look like a typical badass with bulging muscles and that obvious demeanor that is so obvious to the audience that he's the bad guy, but on the other hand I find him a little forgettable. I feel like in a month, when people are raving over Venom still, they'll forget about the villain and his contribution to the story.

The fight scenes were incredibly fun to watch and the design of Venom was fantastic; the symbiote looks frightening and looked like it was really sticking onto its hosts. This film is a little more graphic than previous Marvel movies with gruesome death scenes that could send a chill down your spine or induce serious nightmares. I just wish they went even further with it. For a PG-13 movie, I think they pushed some boundaries, but I know for sure that the writers could have gone even further with it.

There is also moments where certain characters use swear words that you would chastise a child for for using, so if you intend on seeing this with a child then be aware that there will be curse words and not the simple words like hell, damn, or shit. If you're not comfortable with that, then reconsider watching with the children. This is best suited for older family members or with friends. You could watch it alone, but I think this is the type of film that you'd want to watch with other people to share in the enjoyment.

Some critics have deemed this movie to be poorly made while others find it to be well done; I'm here to say that regardless of what you think of it after watching, Venom was a fun ride. Whether you joke about how terrible it is or how cool it is, I believe that it will be a memorable film that people will be excited to see the sequel for.

The beginning and ending weren't my favorite parts and some decisions made in the script are a little questionable, but the fighting was stellar, the comedy had the theater cracking up a lot, and as long as I had a good time, I think it's deserves some credit.

I give Venom a 3 out of 5 stars.

Anne's actress looks familiar, where is she from? Speaking of which, Brock's actor looks familiar too. Where was he from?

The scene with the little girl getting the pin from Carlton Drake was really cute, but since he's going to be a villain it kind of dampens it.

Both Drake and Brock's boss said, "Have a nice life." Is that phrase like...a thing? Are they working together?

I'm not really a fan of Brock right now. How can I feel bad for someone who sneaked into his fiancé's emails and deliberately and carelessly pushed someone to admit to a scandal? If this movie is trying to make me feel bad for him, it's not working.

Is it just me or is Hardy (the actor) trying too hard to make Brock sound drunk?

I too would wonder how my ex fiancé's cat is doing.

What was Brock's motivation to take Dora Skirth's advice? All he did after meeting with her was see his ex and see that someone better is dating her. Maybe it's to feel better about himself?

Brock, Dora told you not to touch anything! I know that was your friend, but if that were me, I would've left them there to get the story. Everyone for themselves when it's a matter of life or death.

Just hearing Venom say food makes me happy. I love the voice.

Poor lobsters...

I like Anne's new boyfriend, he isn't as much of a jerk as I thought he would be. Thank goodness, I hate that trope. It forces you to side with the main character.

That's sad that the symbiote is going to control the little girl, but glad to see the writers aren't holding back any punches.

I did not expect Dora to die. I thought she'd be Brock's new love interest or maybe a villain with the symbiote inside of her who will be saved. I'm going to miss her.

Don't let that sweet Latino guy die! Oh, thank goodness he'll be okay.

I think everyone's favorite part in this movie- or most memorable- will be when Venom tells Brock to jump and Brock uses the elevator instead, with Venom calling him a...I'm not quite comfortable saying it on my blog so here's a hint: calling him a cat. It's way funnier when you see it.

I am so freaking happy they made Anne scream at the sight of Venom. I've seen too many movies where something crazy happens and a character reacts very calmly to the situation. Like no, you'd be screaming or at least running away.

After just being informed that Venom is speaking to Brock, I wouldn't really accept that apology from Brock for getting me fired. Then again, Brock is in a pretty terrible situation, there's no need to bring that up.

Oh no, Brock you may have to reconnect with Venom. You got Drake to worry about with his symbiote.

Is Venom going to connect to Anne or her boyfriend to reach Brock again? No, please don't kill the dog! And he took the dog!

The dog's name is Gemini. What a cutie!

Hold up, why when Venom is controlling Anne she got to have this super curvy body? Is that really necessary to show that she has boobs and ass? It would've been more awesome if she looked like how Brock looks when he has Venom, that way the audience has a bit more suspense on who is behind the symbiote.

That kiss scene was intense. You even had Brock moaning a lot to it too, I mean...wow. That was the most sexual make out scene I've seen in any Marvel movie (unless I'm forgetting a one big one, and I feel like I am). Like...they do know Rule 34 exists, right? People are going to sexualize the hell out of female curvy Venom and that kiss scene. They might just be asking for it, since it will certainly make the movie more memorable.

If you're not compatible with a symbiote, you die, so how come Anne was just fine after Venom left her body? The point this movie is trying to make is that Venom and Brock are compatible; I thought that was just a one human thing. Now it can be more than one? Also, did the dog die after Venom left him? Did the blonde girl die?

Now I'm thinking what the heck would make Venom a loser on his own planet. It will probably be explained in the sequel.

(Probably not the accurate quote but...) "Tell me the real reason you came back" "You"
Okay, that was sending some real romantic vibes! Where did this come from?

There! Brock said "Have a nice life" to Drake. Why is that such a powerful quote for them? Like I get that Drake said it to Brock, but his boss said that to him to. Plus, I don't know, I feel like there was something stronger that could've been said.

"Venom, no!" They really are best friends now, aren't they? I'd be relieved to have the symbiote off of me.

He's grieving over Venom's death?! Oh my God, this relationship runs deep!

If Venom planned the kiss, then that's even further proof that something romantic is going on between the two (I know there isn't, but the evidence is strong), but if Anne planned the kiss (which I'm more likely to believe) then that's messed up how they just threw that in. And to top it off with Venom saying they'll get her back, that's so wrong! The boyfriend has been nothing but helpful through this entire story, and Anne would find an excuse to cheat on him like that. That's not cute or something to strive for, that's cheating plain and simple. Plus, who the heck would want to reconnect with their ex after they cost them their job, got a symbiote in their body, and could possibly kill you at any moment? That's not a moment to be like, "Maybe things could still work out."

In addition to that, why does every superhero (or anti hero in this case) needs a romantic interest? There was a trailer for Aquaman that clearly shows a romantic interest. Why? Does everything need to include romance to get the story going? Well sure it does, because you can't be a superhero or anti hero without having a romantic interest. There goes my dreams of saving the world...

Stan Lee! I was almost worried you'd never show up!

I bet that child in the begging who got the pin from Drake is feeling really good about herself now. Might be getting teased at school for being put on a pedestal by an evil man. She just wanted her question answered, poor thing.

If I didn't watch that Youtube Video Death Battle of Carnage versus Lucy from Elfien Lied, I would've been so lost on who that redhead guy was in the after credits scene. He's going to be something else in the future...

No.

Gracias a Dios, mis suposiciones no eran correctas.

Me encanta Wade y Vanessa's chemistry.

No van a matar a Vanessa.

Little Orphan Annie comiendo cereal?

No puedo recordar.

Stan Lee cameo mural!

Me pregunto si ella lloró silenciosamente.

Maldita sea, esta besando escena con Take On Me en el fondo realmente es emocional. No puedo llorar a Deadpool película...

Deadpool 2 (2018)

Wisecracking mercenary Deadpool joins forces with three mutants- Bedlam, Shatterstar and Domino- to protect from the all-powerful Cable (Source: Google.com)

Genre- Fantasy/Science Fiction
Warnings- Strong language/extreme violence/sensitive themes regarding child abuse and suicide

After the heartbreak endured in "Avengers: Infinity War," the next course of action on my list of what to watch next was, "Deadpool 2" because everyone knows that this character will make you have a good time.

Even the most basic of Marvel fans have heard about how awesome Deadpool (also known as Wade Winston Wilson) can be. I think the first time I really knew who this smart mouth mercenary was when I was in high school and I got the password to one of my brother's friends Netflix account, so I watched a couple of Marvel animated movies- one of them being Hulk Vs. (2009).

For the few minutes that Deadpool appeared in that film, I fell in love with him. Though his background is certainly one of the most harrowing, it's also handled carefully with the right amount of comedy and sincerity about his many, many issues. It's been talked upon countless times in his comics since his first appearance in 1991.

Although Deadpool was created as a parody character of Marvel villain, Deathstroke, it appears that the parody has grown a larger cult following compared to its inspiration. The crowd was packed on opening night for "Deadpool 2" and I was not surprised. Fans were ready to see what this stupid, crazy immortal had up his sleeve this time after his origin movie, "Deadpool" (2016) where we got to see how this anti-hero came to be, plus the tragedy of the man behind the mask.

In his sequel there is a child that needs the help from the Merc with the Mouth, and with some new buddies, Deadpool fights to save him from being assassinated by a half-cyborg man from the future.

Knowing me, I'm not the biggest fan of sequels, but I was ecstatic to watch this in theaters. Was I right to be excited, and the movie turned out to be a killer success, or did it suffer so badly that I'd rather watch Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine again?

As brought up earlier, the plot of the sequel focuses on Deadpool (Ryan Reynolds) and his mission to save a young boy from a man named Cable (Josh Brolin) who is on his own mission to kill the boy for unknown reasons- at first.

Through this, Deadpool discovers the power of family from the most unexpected of individuals. You think I'm being cheesy or lazy with my writing there? Nope, Deadpool literally tells you this at the start of the movie, that this movie is a family film. I liked that this is pretty much a repetition of how he said the first movie was a love story, and he's telling you what to expect.

Obviously, him saying this doesn't mean it's a typical family film- it is rated R after all. However, the genre did tie in nicely with the series of events that played out, and it's cool to watch this family film be so unorthodox.

The run time is an hour and forty nine minutes long, making it basically two hours, but I was not bored for a second. The movie had a strong pace and there wasn't a moment where you'd want to look down at your phone or sneak out to go to the bathroom because everything seemed significant to the story.

I also liked the way in which the writers had the talent to mix drama and humor together, because it can be challenging to have those tie in together and make it work. You could be a bit thrown off by the shift in tone the first few times but you start to realize that it works for the movie.

When you're thrown off, it doesn't mean that scene was awful or it ruins the whole film, it just takes to getting used to. You could have a genuinely sad scene occur and right after that a silly statement to relieve the tension. I think the delivery and timing of the actors is what really helps avoid the movie from being really annoying. I remember wanting more quips because I wanted to see what the characters would come up with.

Speaking of characters, all of them were likable in their own way. From heroes to villains, each actor brought out strong performances in the people they were casted as. Deadpool is undoubtedly one of the funniest Marvel characters to spawn in our lifetime, but without the help of Reynolds to bring his character to life, the mercenary could have went down in the box office.

Brolin as Cable preformed great as well, and it wasn't until after I watched the film that I discovered that Brolin also acted as Thanos in "Avengers: Infinity War" which is impressive given the differences between the two characters. What will be even more impressive is the double amount of memes created about Brolin as these characters. I'm sure he'll have a field day with Tumblr.

The kid in the middle of this drama, named Russell (Julian Dennison) did well with his part, although there were times where I found some of his lines a bit too cheesy. Looking back on it though, I'll just chalk that up to normal behavior for a young child to do.

I think Russell was a symbol of the abuse inflicted upon people when they are young for being different from other people, specifically being a part of the LGBTQ community. The X-Men are sometimes compared to LGBTQ people who face tribulations against those who bash their sexuality, so it's not a stretch to witness similarities between kids like Russell who are ostracized from society to people who have fought to be accepted for who they are for many years.

Deadpool's inclusion in Russell's life was sweeter than one would expect, as you can tell Deadpool tries his best to protect the boy throughout the movie. His decisions to go about that weren't always the best, but one could find kindness in Deadpool's heart when it comes to children since he's been a troubled child in the past. This isn't highlighted a lot in the movie, but it's implied and it could be easy to miss if you're not paying attention.

Another new character that is making their first appearance in this Deadpool series is Domino (Zazie Beets) who is a member of the team that Deadpool ends up forming. She too was very likable, and I think her superpower is supposed to be a joke about how overpowering characters are in comics because their powers are typically giving them Godlike abilities- thus ruining any concern a reader might have about whether that character will survive or not because oftentimes they do. I enjoyed her appearance, attitude, and the fact that she wasn't used as a sex symbol or love interest for anybody. If anything, it was the male characters that exuded more of that.

The only complaint that I would have about this movie is how by the end of it, everything that transpired felt pointless. Deadpool is the king of breaking the fourth wall, but the ending of the movie takes this to a whole new level where this power completely eradicates major plot points. I have trouble being content with this, because this opens a million of questions. If Deadpool could do that, could he change things in other Marvel movies? Is the audience supposed to see this as canon to the story? Does this defeat the purpose of the moral the film was trying to achieve?

I'm sure that at the end of the day, this may be canon to future Deadpool films but it's also meant as a fun joke that won't go any further than this sequel. Besides, this doesn't take away from the fact that this movie was amazing! The story was fun to follow, the characters were all lovable, music choice was random but appropriate for a movie about Deadpool.

Would I recommend watching it? Yes. Would I watch it again? Yes. Would I buy it on DvD? No.

Just kidding! Yes, I would absolutely get it on DvD.

I give "Deadpool 2" a 5 out of 5 stars.

SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

Did Wade and Vanessa break up between the first and second movie? She couldn't handle his deformed face, I guess.

A dig at Wolverine. You are a cold one, Deadpool. So when will that be selling at the next comic con?

The scene where Deadpool blows himself up had an amazing shot.

Don't tell me Vanessa broke up with him because he missed an anniversary. That would be so immature of her considering all that they've been through.

Thank God, my assumptions weren't correct! She's still the most awesome girlfriend anyone could ever have.

A baby? Maybe now is not the best time to have a baby when your boyfriend is both a mercenary and an immortal.

I just love Wade and Vanessa's chemistry. They have a love that I hope I can one day have...

They're not going to kill off Vanessa. It's only been a few minutes.

So...I guess Vanessa's dead now. What the hell?!

Is Wade hugging the killer because he's happy? This is a comedy with dark humor, so maybe- and they both got hit by a car...

It's needless to say that the introduction to the title is hilarious and cinematic, but the Celine Dion song is also really good. I've already listened to it ten times in a row, and probably more in the future.

Is Vanessa going to be Death from the Deadpool comics? If so, then I could probably be more content with her death.

Negasonic Teenage Warhead has a girlfriend and it's nice how they state it and that's all. No overwhelming displays of affection, because some people need to realize that just because someone is interested in the same sex that doesn't mean they're shoving kissing down their throats all the time.

The X-Men hiding away from Deadpool was so funny! I love the humor in this.

Little Orphan Annie eating cereal?

Are there any plus size superheroes or villains that aren't jokes about just because they've bigger?
I can't recall. Man, do we have a long way to go to have every kind of person included in a positive light.

What character is on that pen the kid is holding? Barbie?

Deadpool told you to not befriend him and find someone else, and you're sad that he says he doesn't care about you? Why are you surprised by that now?

Terry Crews! He's going to kick butt!

I can't help but feel like they made Domino black strictly because people have complained about a lack of diversity in entertainment. I like the character, but it's been bugging me. It's nice and all, it really is, and it would be amazing to have much more diversity in our entertainment industry. However,  I don't want everyone to feel pressured to put their original character in a different mold because they fear people will call them racist for having an all white cast.

In some stories, it's makes sense to have an all white cast (depending on era or location) and even if it's not, if that's the original character and you can't picture them being anything other than that then I wouldn't get angry about that. I say let people with minority leads be more prominent in media, give them a wider lenses in the eyes of audiences so they get recognized more. Plus, if there are minority characters who don't have to appear negatively, then don't let them be negative.

Don't push the toxic stereotypes, because I think that's a bigger issue. People are upset that when there are minorities on screen, they are ghetto or a drug dealer or seen as promiscuous and so much more negative outlooks. Unless the script requires that character to behave that way (example- a villain) then tone it down a bit.

Peter is going to be the surprise person to kill the villain in the end. Bet.

Peter is gone! Well, I guess X-Force wasn't meant to be...by the way, who's the guy who played Zeitgeist, the one who spits acid? He looks familiar. It! He played It in the new movie!

Stan Lee mural cameo!

The audience was really getting a kick out of those baby legs. They couldn't stop laughing.

I wish there was more of Negasonic and her girlfriend fighting Juggernaut. I expected more out of the two of them.

The great and mighty Juggernaut has now been seen with an electrical cord up his butt. Fans of him, look at his glory.

Wade and Vanessa both died by a gunshot (also in the same spot I think).

"Why aren't I crying?" said a young woman near me who had big reactions throughout the film. She was referring to Deadpool's death scene where he would be able to finally stay dead. I don't think that scene was all too sad, but the one afterwards with Vanessa telling Deadpool he can't stay after all and then the two kissing to an acoustic version of Take on Me while Wade looked like his normal self was more emotional. I wonder if she silently cried to that.

Damn, this kissing scene with Take on Me in the background really is emotional. I can't cry to a Deadpool movie...

What made Cable want to turn back time to revive Deadpool? Let him rest in peace and be with Vanessa. Cable is a jerk.

After all of this work saving your wife and daughter, you're not going to return to them? Don't you think death is better than not having a husband and father around suddenly? I know what it is, Cable was an absent father or divorced from the wife and when he went to check on them for a second chance they were dead. That would explain why he's so cool with just never seeing them again, because they could do without him.

Go taxi driver, with your first kill!

I see Juggernaut getting out of the pool...So you know he's going to be a villain in the sequel.

Is the section where Deadpool is saving Vanessa and Peter's life canon? I was sad with Vanessa dead but I would have liked that better. Could've been a great direction towards her playing Death.

So Deadpool saved Peter but not the other members of the X-Force? Why? Also, Terry Crews' character could have survived! He just crashed into a bus, there's a possibility.

Ryan Reynolds can make fun of himself so well. Shooting himself in the head. I like that in a man.

Simplemente no me gusta Tony y Pepper juntos.

"Tenemos nombres de Kick Ass y tomar", Mantis, I love you.

¡No!

Oh mi dios, Bucky...No! No otra vez! ¡No!

"Thanos volverá," ¡No!

It has been ten long years since Marvel Studios started seducing people into following an intricate timeline of superhero movies that would eventually lead up to this movie that they've all been waiting for: 'Avengers: Infinity War.'

Starting with the first 'Iron Man' released in May 2008 (or 'Captain America: The First Avenger' if you want to make the timeline linear) fans have witnessed the origins of every single character that plays a major role in this life or death war against a villain that we all knew was coming, but still weren't prepared for.

Fans who chose to watch this movie had to brace themselves for all the action, drama, and twists to come. After all of these years, was 'Infinity War' worth the wait or should this story just disappear off the Earth?

In 'Infinity War' the story is about nearly all of the Marvel heroes working together to try and stop the malicious titan Thanos who is fighting to gather all of the infinity stones: Space, Reality, Power, Mind, Time, and Soul.

I was concerned that with such a bounty of characters, the story would be lopsided and offer more attention to certain people while others would be left to the wayside. Although there are some characters who definitely don't receive as much screen time, based on the series of events, it makes sense that the audience would not see them until a certain time. I believe each character had enough time to make an impact to the war, but that doesn't mean I didn't want more from them.

It's like this: I understand why they can't be in it more, but I'm greedy.

Another thing that worried me was the idea that 'Infinity War' would be dark in tone and unlike the former Marvel movies where there was a good amount of comic relief, there would be none to escape from the intensity of the situations that are playing on screen. Turns out I was wrong, in fact the movie mostly felt like a breeze because the lovable characters we've followed are still the same: cracking jokes, having petty arguments, all that we would expect from even the most serious of heroes.

Even so, there's a lot riding on the heroes to save the Earth- besides the obvious- as the film stresses the theme of love in all forms. Each character has something to lose if Thanos gets all of the infinity stones, and to lose those things would mean an inner death to themselves.

I'm referring to love like Tony Stark and Pepper Potts's romance, or Rocket Racoon's fatherly bond with Groot, or Black Panther's commitment to Wakanda. There are all forms of love rooted in each hero that they are fighting for, which doesn't make them appear to be fighting in this war just for the thrill of it all.

It's pleasant to watch these relationships play out, since you can see how far a lot of the characters came from since their first films. It also tells how diverse each one is in personality, which makes this production even more impressive by having to juggle all of them around. Yet even with the comic relief and heartwarming moments, the progression of the film does bring the situation to light as being incredibly threatening to everybody's lives. Thanos was be a force to be reckon with and no matter what powers someone had, no one was safe from his wrath.

The movie ends in a way that left me speechless and feeling numb throughout my body, as if I was merely a set of eyes floating in the theater, my focus glued to the screen. I would assume that everyone else felt a similar way, as there was no noise omitted in the last couple of minutes and no one even gave a round of applause once the credits rolled as we simply just left the theater in silence. The ending is certainly one for the books, but I'd be lying if I said that I was completely satisfied.

Fun fact: I am often irritated with unconventional endings, in other words, endings that people are not satisfied with. This is because nine times out of ten there will be a sequel to rectify the situation and therefore, all would be well again and it's like nothing ever happened.

This movie's ending would be much more emotional for me if I had something in my heart that told me, "Nothing will change this," but I can guarantee you something will change for the better. Yes, Marvel Studios has amazingly developed characters that have a bounty of storylines in their respective comics, but sometimes a movie can be appreciated more if things end negatively because it's more likely for people to still be talking about this ending and the guts it took to leave this particular storyline alone and done with.

I'm tired of these constant happy endings where people are too afraid to hit at the jugular and keep things the way they are. It's fun to try new things, experiment with unique endings, not having all this chaos occur and then someone can snap their fingers and everything is good again. This doesn't mean I don't get sad when I actually find a movie that goes the extra limit when necessary, but it's good to be sad. It's good to be disappointed; it's a part of life. Not everything has a happily ever after.

Based on what I've learned about the power of the infinity stones, plus valuable information given by a couple of characters, I would try to not take the ending seriously because I believe that it is not what it seems.

The settings in this film are vast and beautiful, and a lot of them are recognizable since they were present in previous films. The galaxy, Wakanda, all of this is shown in the movie and more and I really don't have much to say on this part. It was all pretty well done.

It's incredibly hard to talk much further about the movie without spoilers, so I will end this review. Just note that I want to talk about each major character very briefly. Below my rating for the movie and before the spoiler section, there will be a list of my thoughts on each character in 'Infinity War' in less than four sentences.

'Infinity War' was certainly worth the money spent and it's hard to pin point where the story will lead. According to my theater and I, there didn't seem to be anybody who expected what we got and even now I am struggling to cope with the events that I witnessed on opening night.

Would I recommend seeing it? Absolutely. Would I buy it when it comes out on DvD? Yes.
Would I watch it again? Despite how well done it is, I don't know if I have the heart to re-watch it.

I give 'Avengers: Infinity War' a 5 out of 5 stars.

CHARACTERS

Iron Man- Big contribution to the war, one of the most helpful I say. Always funny.

Doctor Strange- Kind of a jerk, but already was from the get-go. Has a turn around though. Provides probability of victory for heroes which makes me wonder about the sequel.

Spider Man- Great acting from Tom Holland. Very lovable and funny, but also made me feel the saddest for him.

Thor- Pretty much has a deux ex machina moment. Proves his worth as an Avenger and I am very proud of him.

Captain America- Not feeling the beard. I'm still upset about Civil War. I bet that he was going to die.

Winter Soldier- Precious human being who deserved none of what he got. Often seems to get the short end of the stick. Seems more at peace with himself and I wish I got more personal moments with him and Captain America.

Black Widow- I've never been interested in this character. Every time she is on screen I feel annoyed. I feel bad for that, but she contributed well to the war.

Bruce Banner- Barely contributes to the war. Seems to be picked on when he's not being helpful. I guess when it's life or death, you can't really blame anyone for being mad at Bruce.

Black Panther- Wished I saw him more. Helped in bringing a lot of backup for war.

Okoye- Awesome character. Also pretty funny.

Shuri- A little of a jerk for throwing shade at Bruce. Curious about her outcome.

Scarlet Witch- Decent person who always seems to look sad. Did things that most people couldn't bring themselves to do.

Vision- I assumed he'd die more than Captain America because he has an infinity stone in his head. Tragic character. One of the kindest heroes.

Star Lord- Ruins everything for everyone. I still like him though; I'm just being mean and I know I would do the same thing he did if I was in his place.

Gamora- Great to see her opening up to Star Lord more. Unwillingly contributes to the war in a bad way.

Drax- I relate to this character so much, I love him. His quotes sounds like something I'd say.

Mantis- Adorable character with interesting powers.

Rocket- Cool racoon with a soft heart. A tough loving dad to Groot.

Groot- Teenage Groot is stereotypical to what people think what teenagers act like, but it didn't bother me much. More helpful towards the end of the movie.

Thanos- Shows more than just evil in his heart. I kind of understand his motives, but he is still evil and I want him gone.

I wonder who is going to be the first superhero to show up in this long-awaited movie? Loki! Well, you're not a hero, but I guess this will work...Thor! There you are!

*Sees Loki die at the hands of Thanos*...He's fine.

Thor died too? He can't die before the title card! He's one of the bigger characters on the poster, but how could he escape that blast? This can't be the end of Thor and Loki- after three movies!

I just don't like Tony and Pepper together. I really don't, it seems so odd picturing them romantically.

I never thought of Iron Man and Doctor Strange talking together, but the dialogue is full of snarky comments that are hilarious. How could I not see this coming?

Ned, you are so awesome! I'd want a friend like Ned.

Hello, Stan Lee bus driver. I suppose that's the only plausible way to cameo in this movie, unless you want to be a superhero

Squidward. Really? This will get dated now. What year will be the starting point of where kids will have no clue what Spongebob Squarepants is? There appears to be no end in sight.

What Bruce says about, "I don't want to, but when do I ever get what I want?" is relatable.

Pepper, get out of here with that, "You better come back or else" because you know that city has been attacked more than once. If Doctor Strange tells your fiancée to help him save the world, he better save that world before he go home to you tonight. What, you going to break up with him if he doesn't come back in time? Well, you probably broke up at the end of the movie if you were one of the people that disintegrated.

This coupling of Scarlet Witch and Vision is pretty cute, but boy are they in for tragedy. I can smell it before it even happens.

Vision may have been saved now, but he will die by the end of the movie. Mark my words!

Black Widow....ugh

I am not feeling this Captain America beard

So this is how they'll connect Black Panther to this. How does Captain America know about Wakanda? Right, Bucky! That's right.

Seeing the Guardians of the Galaxy with everyone else in this movie feels weird; I always dissociate them away from Marvel even though I know they are clearly a part of Marvel!

Thor! I knew you weren't dead! Now where's Loki?

There they go focusing only on his stunning looks, but I mean, the guardians have a God at their grasp. That's like having Jesus Christ on my dinner table...with an eye patch.

Star Lord and Gamora's kiss was sweet. In the beginning, I wasn't a fan of them as a couple but I like it now. It makes sense to me.

"I've mastered the ability of standing so still...that I am invisible to the eye," I love Drax so much. This is not what I expected for Batista, but he does a great job in acting!

I'm surprised Gamora would cry over Thanos' supposed death, but then again I'm not. After all, this was someone who raised her from a very young age. It's similar to a lot of people's situation, your parents may be bad, could even be downright evil, but at the end of the day you've grown so attached to them that it's difficult to see yourself living without them around- that normalcy. Oh my goodness, I just cracked the case on why people marry people like their fathers.

Oh yeah, Bruce and Black Widow had a thing. Something just irks me about that so much.

Nebula! I was worried you wouldn't show up, but I wished you didn't look so...creepy. Seriously, that contraption looks painful.

Red Skull is the keeper of the soul stone? Did I miss something in the first Captain America movie? How does this make sense if he was...nevermind.

I was with Gamora that Thanos didn't love anybody, but when it showed that he was hesitating to throw her off the cliff, I gained some more respect for the writing. This is where I realized that Thanos is not one-dimensional. Yes, he's a bad guy and maybe his love is misconstrued, but that's his way of loving somebody.

So he really killed Gamora...and Loki. That can't be. I'll accept Gamora's death before I accept Loki's.

Spider man and Mantis are both precious. Please don't fight.

"I'll do you one better. WHY is Gamora?" One of my favorite lines.

"We kick names and take ass," Mantis, I love you.

Now is a great time to realize Gamora is dead. Of course it is, so Star Lord can freak out. Only one more minute and everything would have been fine. Darn it, Star Lord. My likability for you has gone down just a tiny bit. I know it shouldn't, but it sure has.

Starbucks recently had some heat for one of the stores having put out two African Americans for no reason. I don't think you'd want a Starbucks, Okoye.

Winter Soldier and Captain America...they are so cute together. I know they will never be a couple, but my 12 year old heart would ship them in a heartbeat. Heck, I ship them now.

"I'm sure you tried your best," The way Shuri said that to Bruce hurt me. Bruce has gone through enough okay? Not everyone is able to acquire the tools to learn the knowledge that you've acquired, so you shouldn't be putting other people down like that.

Peter Dinklage is a giant dwarf? Well if that don't beat all.

Winter Soldier and Rocket kicking butt together is a moment I didn't know I needed.

Vision is so pure and understanding of what he needs to do to save the world. Such a great person, but darn does this movie love to hurt him. Get killed by your love only to be brought back to life to be killed again? He just doesn't get a break.

What a turn around! Thor going from being possibly dead to being the one to defeat Thanos! It takes a God to kill a Titan. Wait...aim for the head? No!

The scene with Thanos and little Gamora was beautiful.

Oh my God, Bucky...No! Not again! Don't go again, please. Why does this keep happening in front of Captain America too? The poor fangirls! The angst fan fiction! The fan art! The horror! No! My heart will never be the same...

Scarlet Witch looks so sad being disintegrated. She-like Vision- has gone through hell. Maybe in a way, this is her only way to get peace. So if they bring her back to life, I will be mad because she'll no longer being in peace.

Black Panther only got one movie and is already dead. Thanks a lot, Marvel.

Spider man's pleading that he doesn't want to die reminds me of the scene in Spiderman: Homecoming when he was crushed by the rubble and crying for help. He's just a kid in a crazy world and he did all he could to help. He shouldn't be saying sorry. It's not his fault. Tom Holland about to make me cry.

That scene where the Hulk is running through the trees with Captain American and Okoye never happened. The Hulk was barely in this at all.

"Thanos will return," No!

I thought I'd be out of this theater feeling okay, but I'm not okay. I promise.

The Marvel universe is becoming incredibly popular in the entertainment industry, seems like everyone who was a fan of Marvel before is pumped for the upcoming line of movies this year and those who weren't fans of Marvel are being inclined to watch them and turn into a loyal moviegoer for the superhero franchise.

One of the first movies that has been expecting a huge turn-out and praise was "Black Panther," a story about an African king who must come to terms with the crisis lurking within his family history as well as his ideals and power being challenged.

What started out as a comic book in 1966 has revived itself into the 21st century with fierce supporters before the movie even came out. For anyone who may read this in the far future wondering what the big deal was with "Black Panther" and why it was praised so much is because during this time there was a lot of issues involving representation in entertainment- movies, television, magazines and so on- where people of color were either not represented often or if they were, they were represented poorly.

Oftentimes people of color, in this case Africans/African Americans, were either portrayed as ghetto, poor or violent just to name a few. Yet with "Black Panther" not only did it stray away from those stereotypes but they also commented on the tragedies that happened to the African people in the past and how that has caused the struggles many people from that background face in their everyday lives.

I believe "Black Panther" is one the toughest movies to critic by far because it has so many things I want to speak about and yet I feel like I fail to have the capacity to speak truly in depth about them without making this review an hour long to read. With that in mind, I will do my best to talk about what I want in as short amount of reading time as I can which will help me condense my thoughts and give you less to go through whilst still providing you with the core ideas that went through my head.

On that note, was "Black Panther" really the groundbreaking film everyone was anticipating or did this film not land on its feet and made a big flop at the box office?

The story of "Black Panther" stars T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) who becomes the king of Wakanda, a vibrant and well-equipped country that is hidden away from the world due to the concern that their resources will be taken advantage of by outsiders. Throughout the film, you get the witness T'Challa interact with people who have specific ideologies about how they're country- as well as how people in general- should help one another.

Should you help people who are not from your culture at all? What about people that are from your background but grew up vastly different from you? Do you keep your resources to yourself to build up your society or share them with others who may not have the knowledge equipped to support their own countries?

All of these questions and more are brought up through the perspectives of T'Challa, Nakia (Lupita Nyong'o) who is a spy for the Wakandan nation, and even Kilmonger (Michael B. Jordan) who is the villain of the film, and a complex one at that.

I found the story to be well-thought out in its pacing and how it addressed all of these questions that made me take a look at my own values. In fact, I'm positive this movie purposely pointed out the faults within our real society and was making statements on it.

I've caught many lines that could easily be referring to how some people treat others in this world, making people suffer just to protect their greed or using violence to defeat violence in their own communities. The movie makes a point to call us out as a society to recognizes these negatives behaviors and to change them in order to make a peaceful world.

The only faults I would have to say about the story is maybe the beginning where there are two individuals who encounter a former Black Panther and the scene is not talked about again for a while, which left me very confused and had me wondering when those particular characters would come into play again. Also, certain lines in the movie could be dated because they are referencing jokes made from previous years. Even so, with these faults I could see the intention behind why these scenes and lines were brought up and they don't ruin the movie, so consider these as nitpicks.

I would say that this story was the story that people needed to hear this year in 2018. Every year there seems to be a lack of happiness in the world with all the disasters and crime running amongst us, yet this year in particular I've seen the lack of hope in people. People do not trust our government, different races, and even their own families. There's such a divide that "Black Panther" seemed like both that mentor guiding us towards the right direction and the breath of fresh air, because again- it strayed away from stereotypes.

T'Challa's life was one filled with luxury, a prosperous society and a loving family unit. He had his mother and his father in the picture, a sister named Shuri (Letitia Wright) and bodyguards who are fiercely loyal to him, including one named Okoye (Danai Gurira). It's not common to see such a tight knit African community in entertainment and one with more power and intelligence than the United States.

T'Challa himself was a great character. He didn't start out as a foolish, selfish man, yet his behavior still changed radically. He was always kind and strong, and his only flaw was that he was ignorant to certain truths that caused the conflict in this movie and he grew up with a conception of life that he believed to be correct, which it can be argued that in a way it was, but at the same time he learned to accept other aspects on how to be a leader by listening to people. He always took in what others had to say and ultimately implemented that into his actions.

What was also wonderful is that he was weak and emotional at times. He's shown being nervous, freezing during battle and crying. This may not sound so "groundbreaking" but it's often said that men should not to show emotion,"be a man" and stop acting "like a girl." So when T'Challa would cry or Shuri would assist her brother with inventions she made, or Okoye and the rest of the female soilders would fight for T'Challa, that's a strong visual for everyone that actions are not a gender, they are human.

The side characters (who felt like main characters to me) were just as spectacular. Like I mentioned earlier, Shuri invented a lot of things for T'Challa to use during a battle, she understood the ins-and-outs of technology. Plus, she was not just a tech nerd, she was really funny and acted like a sister. I totally felt that they were real siblings because I could tell that the love was there.

Okoye was marvelous and is everything I want to be in a woman. She's tough, a great fighter, admired by many and didn't buy into the American trends of having straight hair. She (and the others) were proud of their natural features and I can only imagine the pride little girls and boys felt seeing them reject the straight hair and embracing their curls.

What's a synonym I can use for Nakia that I haven't used yet? I'm pretty much saying variations of the word "great" right now...I'll go with lovely. Nakia was a lovely character who had differing ideas to T'Challa and yet I don't remember them really fighting over it once.

There may have been differences, but when they talked it out neither of them seemed that offended by the other's thoughts to the point where there was constant animosity. Nakia was always by T'Challa's side helping him in his missions and becoming emotional when all hope seemed lost. That's an excellent way to present to people how to have a normal conversation without being angered over someone's opinion.

The rest of the side characters were strong and useful elements to the story, and as much as I want to elaborate on that, I need to not turn this review into its own script.

I'll speak lastly on the villain, Kilmonger. I've never felt so sympathetic towards a villian since Loki from the "Thor" series, but after watching Kilmonger on screen, Loki's problems look like first world problems now.

I remember shocking myself at times in the theater because I actually sided with the villain to an extent. Kilmonger had a different upbringing from T'Challa which lead him to have contrasting views on how they should support their own people, and while Kilmonger's method of going about that was wrong, he had good points to make. In addition, the movie shows that his way of going on with his plan wasn't something he did just because he was evil, but because of his experiences as a black male living in America.

He went through stuff no one wants to deal with, and the scary part about that is, it has happened to many black girls and boys. Discrimination, murder, poverty, all of this occurs just because of the color of their skin and Kilmonger hated that fact.

The movie shows Kilmonger is a very intelligent man and has worked his way up in life to be a powerful person in his own right. The horror this movie shows is that Kilmonger had all of these fantastic traits to him, he could've been a positive influence to Wakanda and America but instead he took a dark turn and this wasn't because he was born to do that, the tragedies in his life influenced him.

This is not to say that Kilmonger takes no fault in his actions, but it's depressing and yet insightful to see great potential be tarnished because of incidents that didn't need to happen to him, but they did just because of the color of his skin.

I'm not as skilled with talking about scenery and music but I found both of those aspects to be just fine. Kendrick Lamar did a lot-if not all-of the songs in this movie, so if you like him you'll definitely be hearing the soundtrack back at home when the movie finishes.

The pacing of the movie could be dragged on just a little bit, but given that it's the first film fully introducing the characters, that's to be expected. Still, if you haven't seen this movie yet, take a nice full nap before you do, because it's over 2 hours long....and stay till the very end of the credits!

Some people still leave after the movie is done, and these extra scenes actually are important to watch if you follow the whole Marvel film universe.

What else is there to say? This was the movie needed in this time in our society. I don't think "Black Panther" created a story to address the problems in our world, but it definitely helped bring those issues to life. When someone- like me- is sitting there in the theater with their heart stopping briefly at the words the characters say, you know you've connected to your audience.

I give "Black Panther" a 5 out of 5 stars.

There are beautiful visuals in the beginning with the kid asking about Wakanda. Who is that kid anyways? The black panther when he was a kid?

Was the black panther in the first scene in California the same one currently in Wakanda saving Nakia?

Interesting how they show how Americans underestimate African countries. Nice observation.

I've seen the actress for Okoye somewhere....I can't put my finger on it.

Angela Basset! Hi!

I can tell that I'm going to like the sister, Shuri.

Michael B. Jordan...how have I not noticed how attractive you are till now?

Poor museum woman, she was just doing her job.

It's cool to leave your job like that an all, but we're expecting to keep that job? If not, how are you going to get more income? (referring to Kilmonger's girlfriend)

I want to take all those black panthers home as my pets! Beautiful scenery too...

Hi guy from "Black Mirror" and "Get out" (Daniel Kaluuya)

You go, Okoye. You don't have to conform to having hair to appeal to others.

Stan Lee, how I wish you could show up in every movie ever. Your presence is always appreciated.

Wait, why are you killing them Kilmonger?! Where did that come from?

I was wondering when the first scene would be referenced again. I'm so glad they did that too, or else that would have been a huge fault in my book. Also, so Kilmonger was the little kid in the basketball court...wow, yeah leaving the child was messed up. Just raise him in Wakanda, like he'll return to America after that. Wakanda is prosperous and can provide for the kid, it could've been done! Last thing...where was his mom? Was he just homeless after his dad died? If so, that makes things even worse!

Daniel Kaluuya, no! Don't be not upset over T'Challa "dying" or else you're going to have to die!

The whole scene with Kilmonger and his dad...chills. The line about people dying everyday that's why he didn't cry, people not finding them...exactly how many people feel now. The poor child, cursed with an image of his father dead. How can you be normal after that and have a positive outlook on the world?

That upside-down, 360 shot of Kilmonger going to the throne threw me off for a second but I get it now. Everything was flipped on its head, a turn of events...you smart, movie.

I almost forgot that other tribe was in the movie.

"We are vegetarian" the whole audience cracked up on that one. As did I.

Yay, they saved T'Challa! At least it wasn't any unreasonable excuse for why he survived.

It's nice for T'Challa to say what his dad did to Kilmonger was wrong, but at the same time, it's sad that the last time he might communicate with his father was in that way.

"Are you done? Are you done?" Man, M'Baku is funny. I'm warming up to him.

Woah, I totally forgot about the gold suit Shuri made! Nice way to incorporate it back into the story.

Okoye no!!! Oh, it's just an extra solider. Nevermind.

I didn't understand what it really meant for Kaluuya to kneel in front of Okoye, which seems silly now because it means he was standing down despite having the ability to kill her.

"Bury me in the oceans of my ancestors, because they knew death was better than bondage" Damn...

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I wish Kilmonger didn't have to die...but it was too late for him.

This movie did not say, "T'Challa right. Kilmonger bad." Instead, it showed that they both had positives and negatives to their ideologies and T'Challa noticed that and thus, used both of the positives to help make the world a better place. That's good storytelling.

"Black Panther will return for Avengers: Infinity War" You darn right he will. We will not let this movie die!

"In times of crisis, the wise build bridges, while the foolish build barriers. We must find a way to look after one another as if we were one single tribe," Well, well, well...I wonder who was made to hear that line...

Is that Bucky? Hey, I still haven't seen Civil War so not quite sure how you ended up in Wakanda but it's so good to see you! You look great!

I realized at the end of the movie that the boy asking about Wakanda in the beginning was Kilmonger. Can I cry in a corner now?
